Breeding Budgies

In colony breeding budgies, Can there be more than 1 father to a single clutch?
We have 1 hen that had her clutch about 1 month ago and we thought we knew who the father was because we saw them mating and he has been feeding her but now that the babies are feathering there are 2 that look like one of our other male budgies!!!! is it possible that there could be 2 fathers or its just pot luck with the colours you get???
The key here is COLONY BREEDING . Anyone can be the father no matter how devoted a couple of budgies look together. Budgies are not monogamous and do not mate for life. In colony breeding there will be many surprises….some due to differing parentage and others due to unexpected genetics. Hidden genes can create an unexpected result that make you think another Budgie is the father, or it could well be that another male actually is the father of one or more chicks in a clutch.
Knowing what the parents are and expectations of the outcome will decide if the chicks you are wondering about belong to the pairing you think or not. You have said what your result or parents are.
